Randomized controlled trial of arthroscopic electrothermal capsulorrhaphy with Bankart repair and isolated arthroscopic Bankart repair
Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2016 Feb;24(2):414-2188 patients (aged 14+) with anterior instability of the shoulder diagnosed with a Bankart lesion were randomized to receive either an arthroscopic Bankart repair alone or supplemented with an electrothermal treatment of the middle glenohumeral ligament (MGHL) and an anterior band of the inferior glenohumeral ligament (IGHL). The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of these treatments on quality of life, functional outcomes, complications, and recurrent instability over a follow-up period of 2 years. No significant differences were noted in any of the outcomes between treatment groups over the two-year follow-up.
