Treatment of neurogenic claudication by interspinous decompression: application of the X STOP device in patients with lumbar degenerative spondylolisthesis
J Neurosurg Spine. 2006 Jun;4(6):463-7175 patients with neurogenic intermittent claudication (NIC) secondary to degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis were recruited in a study comparing the efficacy of Interspinous process decompression (IPD) with nonoperative treatment. Patients were randomized to the X STOP IPD device treatment or to the nonoperative control treatment. After 2 years, patients in the X STOP group had significantly better Zurich Claudication Questionnaire (ZQC) and 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) scores than the nonoperative treatment group, indicating greater satisfaction, improved function and decreased symptom severity.
