Low-level laser therapy in the management of plantar fasciitis: a randomized controlled trial
Lasers Med Sci. 2018 Jul;33(5):949-958. doi: 10.1007/s10103-017-2423-349 patients with plantar fasciitis were randomized to usual care, including home exercises and noncustom insoles, with or without the addition of low-level laser therapy. Outcomes included subjective function on the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Score (AOFAS), walking speed and cadence from a 12-minute walk test, and pain on activity, with follow-up performed after 3 weeks and 3 months. Group differences for all measures were not statistically significant, though significant time by group interactions were observed for the AOFAS score and pain during activity scores.
