Fifty-seven patients with symptomatic radiographically confirmed knee osteoarthritis were randomized to receive either intra-articular PRP (n=29) or CS (n=28). The primary outcomes of interest were functional outcomes measured by the WOMAC and KOOS scores. Secondary outcomes included pain measured by the VAS and the achievement of minimally clinically important differences (MCID) in WOMAC and KOOS. Outcomes were assessed at baseline, 6 weeks, and 3 months. Overall, the results revealed that CS demonstrated superior functional outcomes, with lower WOMAC scores (p=0.02) and higher KOOS scores (p=0.01) at 3 months compared to PRP. The VAS scores were similar between groups (p=0.73). These findings suggest that CS is more effective than PRP for improving clinical outcomes in this patient population at 3 months.
