Synopsis

50 patients undergoing fixation of Schatzkar type V & VI fractures were randomized to undergo closed fasciotomy + dual plating (n=25) or dual plating alone (n=25). Outcomes of interest included wound complications, secondary trauma, and rehabilitation time. Closed fasciotomy + dual plating of the proximal tibia showed better results in all outcomes with no development of acute compartment syndrome...
