Synopsis

27 randomized controlled trials were included in this meta-analysis. The purpose of this study was to determine if the use of thiazolidinediones (TZDs) was associated with the risk of fracture and if it had any effects on bone mineral density. Pooled findings demonstrated that the use of TZDs significantly increased the risk of fracture, particularly in women.
