Synopsis
210 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty were randomly divided into two treatment groups: Peripheral Nerve Block (PNB) or Periarticular Injection Analgesia (PAI). Patients in the PNB group received combined peripheral nerve blocks of both the femoral and the sciatic nerve, while patients in PAI received a mixture of local anesthetic, morphine and dexamethasone.
