51 patients undergoing lumbar discectomy surgery were randomized to receive an intraoperative intravenous lidocaine infusion or placebo, with the purpose of determining the analgesic effect of lidocaine on postoperative pain. Results revealed intraoperative lidocaine significantly decreases pain perception compared to a control up to 24 hours postoperative, resulting in higher patient satisfaction...
