To compare the results of two treatment methods for comminuted, displaced midshaft fractures of the clavicle, 60 patients were randomized to either open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) or non-operative treatment. After 1 year, ORIF had less complications and malunions than non-operative treatment. ORIF also provided increased patient satisfaction and significantly better functional scores. ...
