Synopsis
Forty patients with sciatica due to L4-5 or L5-S1 disc herniation were randomized to receive treatment with the 5-HT2A inhibitor or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, both groups demonstrated significant reductions in low-back and leg pain as well as leg numbness, but there was no significant difference between the two groups for any of these outcomes.
