Synopsis

65 patients with plantar fasciopathy, that failed to respond to standard conservative treatments, were randomized to undergo extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) or modified endoscopic plantar fasciotomy. The results of this study suggested that both endoscopic plantar fasciotomy and shock wave therapy improved heel pain and function over a one year period.
