Synopsis
107 patients evaluated to be suitable for hip resurfacing were randomized to undergo either a hip resurfacing procedure or a total hip arthroplasty (THA) with a large head. At a mean 1.1 year follow up, both metal-on-metal hip resurfacing and metal-on-metal THA resulted in higher quality of life on all outcome measures compared to baseline.
