9795 patients with type II diabetes were randomized to receive daily treatment with 200 mg of fenofibrate or equivalent placebo treatment. This study examined the effect of a long-term lipid-lowering treatment on occurrence of amputation and reduction of adverse outcomes of the macro- and micro-vasculature.
