Synopsis
80 patients with undisplaced extra-articular fractures of the distal radial metaphysis were randomized to receive treatment with either statins or a placebo for 12 weeks. This trial assessed the effects of statin administration on the rate of fracture healing and bone mineral density. At 12 weeks, statin treatment had no effect on the time until fracture union or an effect on bone mineral density.
