Synopsis
82 patients with inferior heel pain (plantar fasciitis) were randomized to either receive a corticosteroid injection of dexamethasone or injection of saline (placebo). The results show that the group that received dexamethasone injection experienced pain relief for 4 weeks, and had a reduction in the thickness of the plantar fascia that was seen throughout the entire trial duration (12 weeks).
