60 healthy volunteers were randomized to receive three 10-minute intermittent applications of either combined cryotherapy/compression or cryotherapy alone. Improved tendon oxygenation resulted from the tendon preconditioning by combined cryotherapy and compression with significantly increased tendon oxygen saturation during recovery, in comparison to cryotherapy alone.
