Synopsis

146 patients undergoing primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to receive suction drainage post-operation (n=79) or no drainage (n=67). The primary outcome of interest was hemoglobin drop in the first 3 days post-operation. Secondary outcomes of interest included total blood loss, transfusion rate, and length of hospitalization.
