Synopsis
In order to determine the effects of disc arthroplasty or fusion on the adjacent and asymptomatic spinal segments, 20 patients undergoing surgery for one-level cervical radiculopathy were randomized to undergo either arthroplasty or fusion (control), to compare the subsequent motion of the adjacent segments and to see if it relates to clinical outcomes.
