Synopsis

36 patients scheduled for MTP joint surgery for refractory rheumatoid arthritis were randomized to be managed with PLDLA metatarsophalangeal joint interposition arthroplasty or conventional metatarsal head resection. At 12 month follow up, no significant differences in the functional outcomes, complication rates, and pain management were identified between the two groups.
