Synopsis

33 patients with trapeziometacarpal osteoarthritis were randomized to two intraarticular injections of either platelet-rich plasma or corticosteroid. Patients were assessed for pain on a visual analog scale after 3 months and 12 months. Results demonstrated a significantly higher rate of patients with no- to low-pain (VAS 0-20mm) in the PRP group compared to the CS group at 12 months.
