Efficacy of 3D release technique & active release therapy on scapulocostal syndrome patients .
Comparing the efficacy of 3-dimensional release technique and modified active release therapy on pain, scapular position and Craniovertebral angle in IT workers with scapulocostal syndrome: A Randomised Clinical Trial.
J Bodyw Mov Ther. 2025 01-Oct:. 10.1016/j.jbmt.2025.05.033Thirty IT workers with scapulocostal syndrome were enrolled in a randomized clinical trial and allocated equally to receive either the 3-dimensional release technique (3-DRT) or modified active release therapy (mART). Both groups also received conventional physiotherapy consisting of hot moist pack, interferential therapy, and scapular stabilization exercises. Interventions were delivered on alternate days for 2 weeks (6 sessions). The outcomes of interest were pain intensity measured using the Numerical Pain Rating Scale and pain pressure threshold. Other outcomes included craniovertebral angle and scapular position assessed using the lateral scapular slide test. Outcomes were assessed at baseline and on day 14. Overall, the results of the study revealed significant improvements within both groups across all outcome measures. However, there were no statistically significant differences between the 3-DRT and mART groups for pain, pain pressure threshold, craniovertebral angle, or scapular position. These findings indicate that both techniques are equally effective when combined with conventional physiotherapy.
